Purpose
To promote the development of domestic construction technology and enhance national competitiveness by inspiring the development motivation of technology developers (individuals or corporations)
Legal Basis
- Article 14 of the Construction Technology Promotion Act (hereinafter referred to as the "Act")
- Articles 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35 of the Enforcement Decree of the Construction Technology Promotion Act (hereinafter referred to as the "Enforcement Decree")
- Articles 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 of the Enforcement Rules of the Construction Technology Promotion Act (hereinafter referred to as the "Enforcement Rules")
- Regulations on the Evaluation Standards and Evaluation Procedures for New Technology, etc. (hereinafter referred to as the "Evaluation Regulations") (MOLIT Notice No. 2014-306)
- Standards for On-Site Application of New Technology (MOLIT Directive No. 377)
- Standards for Application of Technology Usage Fees for New Construction Technology (MOLIT Directive No. 376)
Scope
Construction technology developed for the first time domestically, or introduced from abroad and improved, that is judged to possess novelty, inventiveness, and on-site applicability domestically, and which, upon request by the developer, is recognized as needing to be disseminated
Definition of Construction Technology
"Construction technology" refers to technology related to the following matters. However, with regard to safety, matters concerning worker safety under the Occupational Safety and Health Act are excluded (Article 2, Item 2 of the Act)
- Planning, investigation (including surveying), design (excluding design under Article 2, Item 3 of the Certified Architects Act), design supervision, construction, safety inspection, and safety review related to construction works
- Inspection, safety inspection, precision safety diagnosis, maintenance, repair, demolition, management, and operation of facilities
- Purchase and procurement of materials required for construction works
- Testing, evaluation, consultation, and guidance related to construction works
- Supervision of construction works
- Trial operation of construction equipment
- Construction project management
- Other matters related to construction works as determined by Presidential Decree (Article 2 of the Enforcement Decree)
- Feasibility review of construction technology
- Processing of information related to construction technology using computer systems
- Estimation of construction works
Protection Period
Initially 8 years, extendable once within a range of 3 to 7 years
